  1. Your Installation is Complete!

  3. Paltalk was installed in your windows start menu program
  4. directory and a shortcut was created on your desktop.
  5.  
  6. Thank you for your interest and remember to send Paltalk to a
  7. friend.  It's easy to do, just press the Invite button and
  8. then supply their email address.
  9.

  11. "Help" from the menu or by visiting our home site on the web, 
  12. Paltalk.com and viewing our FAQ (frequently asked questions).

  20. 1. Voice Conferencing - Simply click "Groups" on the main
  21. Paltalk screen to join existing conferences, create your
  22. own or create a Permanent Group for you and your pals!
  23.  
  24. 2. VIDEO, VIDEO, VIDEO!  Now you can actually see your pal
  25. in addition to speaking with them.  Thats right, free video
  26. conferencing!  Dont worry if you dont have a webcam, you can
  27. still see your pal if they have one.  You can also get a 
  28. webcam from Paltalk by clicking Help/Accessories.

  30. 3. Voice Mail - Simply double click an offline pal or right
  31. click any pal or click "file", "voice mail" to launch the
  32. voice mail window.  Then click "record" to record your voice
  33. mail.  Once the mail has been recorded, click "send" to mail
  34. the message.  Remember to type your pal's address in the "TO"
  35. field so Paltalk knows where to send the voice mail.

  37. 4. Enhanced Privacy - Simply click Setup / Preferences from the 
  38. main window and set new privacy settings.  You can now control 
  39. whether other users see your email address, first and last names.
  40.  
  41. 5. Enhanced Firewall Network Support - If you are having trouble
  42. with the audio or video, click "Setup", "Advanced Sound Control"
  43. and then check "Firewall/Home Network Voice Support".

  45. Quick Tips to get started:

  48. To Add Buddies to you list:
  49. Click the "Add Pal" button, fill out any information you know.
  50. You do not need to fill in all the fields.  You can just fill in
  51. just the email or the first name and a couple of letters of their 
  52. last anem and then hit the Search button.  A list of those people
  53. matching the your search criteria will be displayed.  If your 
  54. buddy is listed, click on them and then click the Add Pal button.

  56. To Talk:
  57. When you open the program, online users will appear in bold type.
  58. To call a user, double click on their name.  Once they answer,
  59. hold down the "ctrl" key on your keyboard to talk and release it
  60. to listen.
  61.  
  62. To Hangup:
  63. Click on the phone off the hook icon to hangup.  You can also double 
  64. click on the buddy in the main list that you are talking to as 
  65. an alternate way to hangup.
  66.  
  67. To Text Chat:
  68. Single click to highlight a  user and then click on the Text/Video
  69. button on the bottom left of the main wiindow.  This will bring up a 
  70. communicator window to that person.  From that window simply type your
  71. message and hit Enter.  If the user is not online when you send a 
  72. text message, the message is stored and they will recevie it as soon
  73. as they login the next time.

  75. Communicator Window:
  76. The text chat window described above can do much more than just text 
  77. chat with a person so the window is more aptly descibed as a 
  78. communication window.  From the communicator window you can text chat,
  79. audio call, video call and send files.

  81. To Video:
  82. Bring up a communicator window with the person you wish to exchange
  83. video with.  You do this by selecting an online buddy from the main 
  84. window and pressing the Text/Video button.  Then press the Video button.
  85. Your buddy will be asked if they agree to turn on video and if they do
  86. the screen will enlarge and you will see two images on the right.  One
  87. of you and one of them.  The image of you should show fluid movement.  
  88. The image of your buddy will update in snap shots, one every couple 
  89. of seconds.

  91. Right Click Menu:
  92. All functions are also accessible with a right click menu which 
  93. may be seen by right clicking on a user (whether online or
  94. offline).

  96. Help Screen:
  97. There is extensive help which may be accessed by clicking the
  98. Help menu on the top right of the PalList.

  100. Ctrl-key Talk Mode:
  101. Now you can easily use the CTRL key on your keyboard to talk and
  102. listen with paltalk.  First, make sure Hands Free mode is NOT
  103. checked under Options on the main widnow. Then, when you're 
  104. in an audio call with someone, just press and hold the CTRL key 
  105. to talk and release it to listen.

  107. Hands Free Mode:
  108. This feature may be selected by uners Options off the main window.
  109. This feature will allow you to talk hands free without having to 
  110. hold down the CRL key to talk.  For this feature to work correctly 
  111. you must adjust a threshold meter.  Please see the Hands Free 
  112. section explained in the help to explain fully how to do this.

  114. Send Paltalk to a friend:
  115. If you'd like to talk to a frined using Paltalk who's not currently
  116. a Paltalk member you can easily invite them to join by clicking 
  117. "Invite" on the front panel of your PalList.  A dialog box will 
  118. then be displayed for you to input your pals email address or to 
  119. search for the address in your address book if you choose.

  121. File Transfer:  
  122. You can send a file to an online pal by right-clicking their name
  123. and selecting 'File Transfer'.  Then pick a file from your desktop
  124. machine and send it along!

  126. Privacy:
  127. This feature allows you to restrict people from contacting you
  128. unless they are on your PalList.  Simply click Setup / Privacy 
  129. Blocking to invoke this feature.
